  2. I just hope it has some pivacy features, like a optional code to get into your msgs or pictures . I have a samsung phone for this reason , and is also the reason why I stoped buying nokia . I also hope it does the simple things well, like sending a sms at blazing speed .

  3. NOTE TO ALL UK CONSUMERS:

I have just contacted Apple UK and the bloke in charge said that the iPhone will be released in UK stores late October/November. The retail price of the 4gb model will be between £260 & £300. Unfortunatly no further info is available yet regards to specific dates…

  4. The 8gb model is unlikely to be released on initial launch here in the UK.

Hmm… I wonder if it will be on std. networks or a special Apple network?

    Answers please…

  5. In the USA its stated the AT & T will be the sole provider of the iPhone, if this is true its the dumbest move I’ve see Apple make in many a year!!

They should sell it in the Apples stores, unlocked and ready to go on any network.

  6. I have been looking at the iPhone since it was announced - it’s a very good product and I can’t wait until September when it comes out.

The CEO of Apple Inc. recently announced that it would be out in the UK during September, but it comes out in the USA on Friday 29th June!

The small problem with importing it is that it would be locken to AT&T, an American-based cellular network. It’s looking like August before it becomes unlocked, and by that time it would be easier just to buy it a few weeks later.

Ah yes, the cost of the iPhone when it hits UK stores will be £249.99, or $499 when it comes out in the USA.

  9. I really hope that the iphone lives up the hype. It would be very annoying if after two months they release an updated model. Such as putting a camera in the next model, or increasing the hardware.

It would be good if they could give buyers in the UK and opportunity to enjoy it before releasing the next version.

  14. well in steve jobs launch speach he did mention that they would be developing a g3 version wonder if thats whats going to hit the uk shores in the september seeing as all major supplyers over here run off g3 techknology

cannot wait to get my hands on one just was watching spiked humor some one playing World of Warcraft on there iphone linked through there ibook looks kick arse.

and seeing as apple havent let the cat out of the bag of there new upgrades that will be shipping later on in the year for the iphone can see this being the phone that every one will be out there to buy.

and the great news in my contract runs out around there release so i cannot wait to own one. yay

  15. The iphone will be available on o2 network only for an indisclosed time. I’ve been told a min off 2 years. Stupid move as they could make more money just selling in apple stores etc. I have been told that vodafone simcard can work on the american version off the iphone (not concrete source)

    Comment by Mike — July 10, 2007 @ 1:15 pm

  16. Do you have to have an 18 month contract or is that pay as you go price?

    Comment by Kieran — July 12, 2007 @ 8:35 am

  17. cant wait for the iphone the only thing i am a bit annoied about is the NSP being T-Mobile, I really think it should be sold unlocked and u just pop in a sim.

    Comment by Dean Thomson — July 14, 2007 @ 9:18 am

  18. October 26th? T Mobile???? thats funny O2 are said to have won the contract for it, RRP? this is also illegal in this country now. stops price fixing. i personally am going to wait for the second gen release. a lot of the features are network provider dependant so unless you buy it on contract you wont be able to use all the features anyway.

    Comment by H — July 14, 2007 @ 9:37 am

  19. Comment 12 is obviously wrong about the service provider as it has now been announced as O2 for the UK (or close enough). That RRP is probably about right and, unless there are any problems, I’d definitely say we’re going to see it hit UK shores in Q4.

    Comment by Fred — July 15, 2007 @ 6:04 pm

  20. Hot tip from Apple insider that I know: This is genuine, too:

IPhone 4Gb release date in UK is 31st October 2007 at midnight. Iphone will be tied to an 18 month contract with O2, and will not be unlockable. Will only work with unique O2 SIM. No PAYG options, must pass credit check.

Will be activated as in the US via iTunes only.

Iphone 4Gb will cost £299 inc VAT

(The post above mine is obviously false, as Apple do not use price rhetoric ‘.99p’ on their prices)

    Spread the word!!!!

  21. Hmm everything else says o2 as the provider?.. Either way, i wish they’d sort it out just so we can all get our hands on one! :oD

  33. I’ve been saying for four years apple should do a phone PDA. Hopefully someone will have the sense to sus out an unlocking code or system. If anyone has knowlegde of apple maybe doing an updated one in 2008 with such things as a camera flash or facing camera for video link etc… please post it! Question: if it runs OSX would there be maybe a small possibilty that a very small limited edition of photoshop would be able to run on it? Seems like a stupid question I know but as a photographer I could use it as a mobile hard drive & turn large jpgs into smaller ones & email them.

  34. The Apple iPhone will be sold exclusively by T-Mobile in Germany, Orange in France, and O2 in the UK.

    Comment by iMe — August 23, 2007 @ 4:47 am

  35. OK, I work at an Apple retail store… so I kind of know what I am talking about here unlike some of the posts above.

It was anounced today on video conference by Steve himself, simultaniusly on all Eurepean retail shops, that the UK will be the 1st European contry to sell the Iphone, when? well the 15 of December or 1st of April 2008 not sure yet… retail price? 312.62 £ for the 3.5 Gig model… Steve also anounced that there is going to be a secret merger between Apple and Microsoft and Google… all 3 companies will become 1 and the stock will fly high! (but don’t tell anyone yet it is top secret)… finally there will be a mac that will be pink and another one in dark brown.

  36. I am looking forword to the iphone coming out myself, there are alot of comments about why Apple don’t release it on other networks etc. Apple have developed the phone with AT&T, and it is this what makes it a great phone. Espeacialy the web browser and search facilitys, thats why it’s comming out on the single network its going to take other networks and phone makers a while to catch up. Apple can afford to be picky for now they deserve it. If we want the phone and what it has to offer then we have to go with whatever network it comes out on.

  37. i have iphone 8gb they will crack this phones codes to go on any network thats for shaw working on it know so buy from us for 600 dollers and wait for unlocking software to be released it will cost u in uk close to 1000 pound to buy this phone when it is released in uk

  39. its a us iphone, it even has a nes emulator and much more stuff. pretty nice phone. you can do so much with this phone its so good, its like a mini pc.

    Comment by Aaron — September 7, 2007 @ 12:27 pm

  40. Well considering Apple have just knocked $200 off the 8Gb version and clearly moving away fast from the 4Gb one, there is potential that most of the speculation on this page could be way off the pace…

I guess its looking likely that we will see the 8Gb version here… I did read in ‘mobile’ magazine (industry mag) that O2 won the contract by basically agreeing to slightly nuts demands from Apple just to get the contract, like 50% of the revenue.. ouch!!.. if true then unlikely there will be a subsidy, so the 300-400 price may seem likely

That said who the heck knows, Apple could teach the CIA a thing or two when it comes to secrecy hahaha…

Now torn between the Ipod Touch and waiting to see if the Iphone is a realistic option!!..

Hope they announce something very soon!.

  43. What is all the hype about, cuting edge technology, yeh right, 2mp camera woo!!! no 3G even no radio, what are they playing at, the “unique” thing about this phone is that it is touch screen unlike the “LG prada”. Another thing is that the locking software has been cracked but i bet some of the features wont work if it is cracked. Apple will just release a new fireware update and the Iphone will be locked again!! Just wait for the new Sony Erricsons or the new Iphone killers Nokia N series that are jue out later this year.
